Chipotle is Coming to Downtown San Leandro
For several years, Chipotle has been high on the list of businesses that community members would like to see open in San Leandro. As a result, San Leandro’s Business Development staff has been working closely with Chipotle to explore opportunities to bring them to town and make them aware of all the positive activity in Downtown San Leandro.
After reviewing multiple location options in San Leandro, we are thrilled to announce that Chipotle has plans in place to open at 1505 East 14th Street. This site, the former Copy Mat, has been vacant since 2006 and has a strategic, high-visibility location at the corner of Juana Avenue, directly across the street from The Village retail center. This location would not have been nearly as attractive for Chipotle without the opportunity to locate near tenants like Peet’s Coffee and The Habit Burger.
Based on preliminary design concepts, all signs point to Chipotle doing a phenomenal job with the interior and exterior improvements. Chipotle’s architects are working on plans that will preserve and highlight the brick façade of the building, which was constructed in 1947.
Chipotle hopes to be open in San Leandro before the end of the year. Welcome!

This is a slap in the face of local business Los Pericos which has their location mere feet away from Chipotle

I’m so excited about this news. I’m a fan of both chipotle and los pericos and I don’t think they are in direct competition at all. They are distinctly different from one another. Sometimes you feel like chipotle and sometimes you feel like los pericos!
