In July this year, Marina Faire saw the opening of another new San Leandro restaurant, Hanoi Chicken Noodle, a modern take on Vietnamese food, with a focus on pho noodle soups, as well as a great many Chinese dish options.  Diners place orders, grab their own drinks, and seat themselves, resulting in a more expeditious dining experience, making this a great spot for lunch or a quick dinner.

The menu is extensive, with more than a dozen noodle soups, several rice plate dishes, appetizers, and porridges.  Among many interesting and unique choices are the chiu chow fish cakes, the frog porridge, and the chicken, chinese bacon, and sausage clay pot rice plate. Among the appetizers, the General Tso chicken wings offer a new take on the hot wing.

The generous servings are presented on aluminum dining ware, which shimmers atop the brushed aluminum table tops, creating a hip industrial atmosphere. The drink menu also offers some unique choices, such as iced and hot Vietnamese coffee, milk tea, salted plum sparkling soda, and grass jelly with soy milk.  On a hot day, the moderately sweet, fresh watermelon juice is quite a refreshing way to cool down.

Hanoi Chicken Noodle offers a modern dining experience and refined dishes that play on their traditional forerunners.  The next time you visit Marina Faire, give it a try!
