In partnership with the City of San Leandro and the City of San Leandro Arts Commission, award-winning actor, playwright, comedian and talk show host (and San Leandro resident) Brian Copeland is producing the first annual Comedy in the Plaza, a free public event on June 22, 2019 from 5:30 to 8:00pm. The event features Copeland as host and performer, along with several of his fellow accomplished comedians performing 15 minute sets, including Jake Johannsen, Sandy Stec, Carlos Alazraqui, Joe Klocek, Jann Karam, and Dat Phan. The free event will take place in the outdoor plaza of the San Leandro Main Library, located at 300 Estudillo Avenue, in downtown San Leandro and is considered appropriate for ages 14 and older. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.

“I am so excited about this event which I’ve been dreaming about for years and is finally a reality. I’m certain that it will be very popular and I hope it’s the first of many years to come. Street parking is available nearby and I suggest you come early to snag a good spot. Feel free to bring a blanket or low-back lawn chair. And get ready to laugh!” – Brian Copeland

This is age 14 and up. Who is going to enforce when family shows up with infants and children?

  2. No one will “enforce” Geri.

But if you bring your kid and he/she hears something you deem inappropriate…that’s on you!

Brian, why are you encouraging members of the community to drive to a local event? It won’t rain, it will be light out until 9PM, and most people don’t get enough exercise. Walking or biking to the library would be a better way to spend their time than getting there early to snag a nearby parking spot. In case anyone comes from outside the community, you could mention that SL BART is only a few blocks away.

  4. LL,

I trust that people are intelligent enough to make the transportation choice that’s best for them.
