Zocalo Coffeehouse and Square One Yoga will be joining together for coffee and yoga to support the build out of Zocalo’s revamped space. On Sunday, February 2, Square One Yoga will open its doors at 1225 MacArthur Boulevard  at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and community. Everyone is invited to stay for a 9:30 a.m. yoga class, which is open to all levels of experience.  Donations generated at the morning gathering will be directed to Zocalo’s renovation of their coffeehouse located at 635 Bancroft Avenue.

The San Leandro business community has demonstrated a commitment to fostering relationships with each other and building a sense of community throughout the city. This weekend’s collaboration between an older, existing business with a freshly opened one provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy these efforts.

zocaloZocalo has been a local and regional destination more than ten years, receiving multiple awards as a favorite coffeehouse. Originally known as Dean’s Beans, it changed ownership and became Zocalo Coffeehouse ten years ago. In 2013, Sara Ubelhart purchased the business and began renovation of the site, prompted by the change of ownership and the expansion of services she envisions.

square one - I heart yogaSquare One Yoga opened its San Leandro location in January 2014. This is the second location for the yoga collaborative founded by Katy Cryer. The Emeryville location has a loyal following and offers a variety of classes, including a unique yoga@work program which sends  instructors into the workplace to lead courses on-site. Square One Yoga believes in friendly, unpretentious and accessible classes, providing sliding scale payment options.
