Papaito Rotisserie and Antigua Coffee Shop Now Open at Creekside Plaza
The wait is over! Since the Creekside Bistro closed its doors at 500 Davis Street last year, Victor Caicero and Marcelo Estrada have been working hard to transform the restaurant space into a dual-concept eatery that combines both of their successful food establishments in Hayward – Papaito Rotisserie and Antigua Coffee Shop. The Hayward locations have each earned high marks on Yelp and East Bay Express thanks to high quality, delicious food, as well as the chic industrial design of the dining area.
The new location held its soft opening on Friday, April 12, 2019 with a ribbon cutting hosted by the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, and officially opened on Friday, April 19, 2019. Antigua Coffee Shop offers breakfast and lunch service, while Papaito will focus on the lunch and dinner crowd. They also serve brunch cocktails, beer, wine and sangria. The attractive, outdoor seating makes Papaito/Antigua an ideal spot for a meal in the sun, as the summer months approach.
Victor and Marcelo are passionate about blending only the finest coffee beans in their Antigua Coffee shops. Beans are sourced from the farmers of Colombia, Guatemala, and Mexico, and the resulting, international blend gives their coffee bold flavor and character. Antigua also serves hearty and refreshing breakfast foods, including bagels, omelets, pancakes, as well as Mexican staples such as huevos divorciados, and machaca with eggs. The lunch menu includes sandwiches, soups, salads, sliders, as well as flautitas, empanadas, and quesadillas, not to mention the tapas menu. Besides coffee, Antigua also offers tea, matcha, juice, and smoothies.
At Papaito Rotisserie, modern Californian cooking is enjoyed family-style. Just as Latin American dishes have been influenced globally, so too does Papaito adapt old world foods with a modern food ingenuity. What results is a delightful experience that transcends beyond the confines of a single culture, becoming instead, an all-inclusive experience aimed at serving exceptional cuisine. Perhaps the strongest conceptional clue to describe the restaurant and fare is in the name. Papaito directly translates to good friend. Papaito Rotisserie’s menu offers a variety of foods for carnivores and vegans alike. The herb-roasted rotisserie chicken is of course its name-sake, but the mouthwater beef rib and porchetta are equally tempting. Papaito’s selection of side dishes is tantalizing and unique, with smoky corn salad, kale quinoa salad, grilled purple cole slaw, chili-glazed carrots, and casserole mushrooms just to name a few.
At the sold-out 2019 Taste of San Leandro, Papaito and Antigua made their debut appearance to the delight of the guests. Walkable from BART and the heart of Downtown San Leandro, this unique eatery is sure to become a favorite destination for San Leandrans and visitors alike.
