This Wednesday, November 12th, UIX Global, in partnership with its title sponsor, The City of San Leandro, will host Prototyping the Future Expo & Conference, at the Zero Net Energy Center in San Leandro, California. Prototyping the Future will explore how breakthroughs in technology and community engagement are shaping the development of Gigabit and Smart Cities in the near future. Technical experts, development specialists, and city officials from around the Bay Area (and beyond) will engage in a lively exchange of ideas with their fellow tech and social innovation thought leaders, enjoying a compelling day of presentations, networking, and hands-on experience.

The conference will take place from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm and will be hosted at the Zero Net Energy Center (14600 Catalina St, San Leandro, CA), a location that showcases the innovation related to energy efficiency and alternative energies happening today in San Leandro.

“A renaissance is unfolding in San Leandro as the City becomes a new center of innovation in the Bay Area. We welcome makers, startups and entrepreneurs to attend the conference and learn how they can leverage the latest technologies in gigabit fiber connectivity, data, advanced manufacturing and 3D printing to grow and become industry leaders,” stated Mayor Stephen Cassidy.

As Chief Innovation Officer for the City, I’m delighted that UIXGlobal chose the City of San Leandro in which to stage their first conference focused on the development of innovation ecosystems.  San Leandro is exploring and executing new, collaborative approaches to economic development, as evidenced by the City’s partnership with Dr. Pat Kennedy that resulted in Lit San Leandro and the sponsorship of this unique conference/expo.  This event is envisioned as a way to highlight the work of our partners, including OSIsoft, US Ignite and Type A Machines as well as a means to learn from global examples of innovation ecosystems.  UIXGlobal, whose partners Greg Delaune and James Hanusa recognize that San Leandro has become a Bay Area innovation hub and have been instrumental in creating increased recognition of San Leandro locally, regionally and nationally, recently confirmed their confidence in San Leandro by moving the company to  The Gate.  The Gate, located on the 2nd floor of the West Gate Center at 1933 Davis Street, is rapidly being recognized regionally and nationally as an example of how advanced manufacturing can succeed in the United States, bringing back manufacturing jobs and restoring the American middle class.

Prototyping the Future features speakers from Bay Area municipal government, experience design, venture capital, and industry leaders from technology, education and healthcare. The Expo will showcase emergent technologies from Kaiser Permanente’ s Garfield Innovation Center, Prospect Silicon Valley portfolio companies and members of The Gate’s Bay Area Advanced Manufacturing Hub (BAAM).  BAAM launched last month at a Congressional visit by Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and Congresswoman Barbara Lee.
