Eric F. Anderson, Inc. (EFA), is a local construction company that performs both new construction and renovations and specializes in custom and high-end grocery, food service, and brewery buildouts. Located at 1066 Beecher Street in San Leandro since 1987, Eric F. Anderson, has helped bring about improvements to many businesses throughout town.  In San Leandro, EFA’s work can be seen at businesses such as The Cooler, Horatio’s, PatelCo Credit Union, Inner Athlete, Safeway stores, and more. The company works on a variety of projects in Northern California, Hawaii, and Nevada, including the beautifully renovated lobby at the Claremont Hotel & Spa, and and looks forward to securing more opportunities to work on local projects.

Company founder, Eric Folke Anderson, was born in Sweden in 1900, during a time when the art of carpentry was pivotal in order to guarantee quality of life. Eric was the son and grandson of carpenters, and so it was only natural that he followed in their footsteps and picked up the trade. As a teenager, Eric apprenticed with his father and learned the skills necessary to establish himself as a professional carpenter.  A few decades later, Eric decided to take his skill set abroad and emigrated to California where he and a partner established a carpentry business in Oakland in 1945.

In 1982, Eric passed away and left the company in the control of Donald K. Anderson – one of his three sons. By 1987, the company had expanded beyond its Oakland facility’s capacity, and Donald moved the company to San Leandro, where it remains today. Donald chose San Leandro as the location in part because he believed that San Leandrans made up an honest community of hard-working people. San Leandro was also well-situated, with easy access to the South Bay, the Tri Valley, and San Francisco.

Under Donald’s leadership, Eric F. Anderson, Inc. (EFA) became notorious for finishing the job under any circumstances, and despite any challenges. Donald instilled his values of integrity, hard work, and fairness onto his employees as well as anyone who had dealings with the company.

Donald passed away in 2010 and left the company to his wife, Leona Anderson, who serves as Chairman of the Board while their daughter, Kristin, serves as Chief Executive Officer. Today, EFA is woman-owned and operated and continues to pride itself in quality work, high integrity, accountability, and community engagement.

EFA employs 70 carpenters, laborers, and office staff, and is signatory to the Northern California Carpenters Union. It is certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council and carries a low Experience Modification Rating (EMR) of 0.52, which indicates a remarkable dedication to safety. The company also oversees Five Star Fixtures, which specializes in custom cabinetry.
