Staff report

The City Council approved a contract on March 3 for $690,000 with Placeworks to prepare the 2015 General Plan Update, which includes the Housing Element Update and related Environmental Impact Report (EIR) under the California Environment Quality Act (CEQA).

The presentation on March 6 initiates the comprehensive, public planning process to amend the City’s General Plan, which was last overhauled in 2002, and will take close to three years to complete. Key topics to be covered include the basics of the General Plan, history of the San Leandro’s General Plan, review of the existing Plan, project timeline, public participation outreach, and role of the Planning Commission.

The public is invited to attend the March 6 work session and learn more about the General Plan process and requirements. Mr. Miller will make a similar presentation to the City Council in Spring 2014.
