Help us Spread the Word – Small Business Recovery Grants due Jan. 11th

Let your favorite local business know – the San Leandro Small Business Recovery Grants program is open for initial applications through January 11th, at 5pm. The program provides up to $15,000 grants to eligible businesses who owe back rent. All small businesses who think they may qualify are encouraged to apply!

City staff have been have been doing a wide range of outreach to spread the word, but to best reach the businesses that were the hardest hit and have had trouble accessing support, we need the help of the community! The most recent wave of COVID-19 has reminded us that small businesses who rely on walk-in or in-person customers have been among the hardest hit during the pandemic.

We have been doing direct outreach to businesses, spreading the word on different media outlets, and in multiple languages. A number of news outlets, including KPIX, Post News Group, KCBS Radio, Telemundo 48, Univision, have helped to spread the word. Special thanks go to Councilwoman Corina Lopez for representing the City during the Telemundo and Univision interviews.

We want to thank all of our community and businesses partners who have been helping us spread the word so far, including the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, San Leandro Downtown Community Benefit District, San Leandro African American Business Council, San Leandro Asian Business Council, A New America Community Corporation, Centro Business Community Partners, and SCORE East Bay business advisors. We have also been working with our partners at HdL Companies, to develop a streamlined and accessible new application process.
