National Manufacturing Day, also known as MFG Day, is celebrated on the first Friday of October each year. The day is a chance to showcase the potential of modern manufacturing and to encourage interest in manufacturing careers.
San Leandro celebrates MFG Day in a number of ways. Manufacturers are invited to open their doors and host tours for the general public, the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual Manufacturers’ Appreciation Event, the City of San Leandro produces Made in San Leandro documentary shorts featuring local makers, and the Mayor issues a Proclamation to acknowledge MFG Day in San Leandro.
National Manufacturing Day is on Friday, October 4 in 2024. Here’s what’s happening:
Hosted by the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, the 2024 Manufacturers’ Appreciation Event will take place at 4PM on October 4, at Drake’s Brewing (1933 Davis Street). Manufacturers are invited to come, enjoy a beverage, and network with other local makers. San Leandro Manufacturers can register for the event and find more details here.
On October 18, 2024, the Eden ROP will be shuttling local high school students to visit area manufacturers and learn about careers in manufacturing. The event will commence at Chabot College with a luncheon and guest speakers.

The East Bay Economic Development Alliance is hosting an East Bay Manufacturing Summit on Tuesday, October 29 from 9AM until 2PM at the Fremont Downtown Event Center. The summit will bring together East Bay manufacturers, civic leaders, education, and industry partners to foster connections in supporting a more dynamic, resilient, and inclusive manufacturing ecosystem and regional economy. The event will feature panel discussions highlighting microclimates of innovation, cutting-edge workforce models, and international trade opportunities. Over the past few years, the City of San Leandro has produced Made in San Leandro documentary shorts, featuring some of the city’s manufacturers. Below are the videos that have been made so far. Four pilot videos were released in 2022, featuring four disparate San Leandro manufacturers (Torani, Halus Power Systems, Scandic Springs, and 21st-Amendment Brewery). In 2023, four more videos were released, celebrating women in manufacturing (Aralez Bio, Porifera, Urban Bloc, and Torani).
