National Manufacturing Day
National Manufacturing Day, also known as MFG Day, is celebrated on the first Friday of October each year. The day is a chance to showcase the potential of modern manufacturing and to encourage interest in manufacturing careers.
San Leandro celebrates MFG Day in a number of ways. Manufacturers are invited to open their doors and host tours for the general public, the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual Manufacturers’ Appreciation Event, and the City of San Leandro has produced a series of Made in San Leandro documentary shorts featuring local makers.
MFG Day 2026
National Manufacturing Day is on Friday, October 2 in 2026. Here’s what’s happening:
First Friday: Open for Businesses
Get an inside look at how things are made at Torani. A guided tour will take place on Friday, October 2 between 9AM and 10AM as part of San Leandro Chamber of Commerce’s monthly event series, First Friday.
Manufacturers’ Appreciation Event
Hosted by the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, the 2026 Manufacturers’ Appreciation Event will take place on October 2, at Drake’s Brewing (1933 Davis Street) between 4:30PM and 6:30PM. Manufacturers are invited to come, enjoy a beverage, and network with other local makers. San Leandro Manufacturers will need to register for the event. The event is open to Chamber members as well as non-Chamber members.
Manufacturing Pathway Outreach
On Tuesday, November 3 from 6PM to 7:15PM current high school students are invited to explore different career pathways available after graduation. SLCC is partnering with the San Leandro Main Library (300 Estudillo Avenue) to allow students and their families to hear real-world experiences from industry professionals in the trades, construction, manufacturing, electrical, and heavy equipment fields. Experts will share what these industries are really like, what employers look for, and the steps youth can take to begin exploring these opportunities. Advanced Manufacturing Day
On Friday, October 23 from 10:30AM-1:30PM, Chabot College will host their annual Manufacturing Day event in partnership with local high schools and Eden Area ROP. Chabot College creates an engaging forum where local manufacturing experts, such as past panelists from Telsa, Torani, and Eric F. Anderson Inc., can share real-world insights and inform students of career pathways in the manufacturing industry.
Last year the Eden ROP shuttled over 300 local high school students to visit area manufacturers and learn about careers in manufacturing. The Chabot College event included a luncheon, guest speakers, and immersive Career Technical Education (CTE) lab tours and presentations.

Made in San Leandro Videos
Over the past few years, the City of San Leandro has produced Made in San Leandro documentary shorts, featuring some of the city’s manufacturers. Below are the videos that have been made so far. Four pilot videos were released in 2022, featuring four disparate San Leandro manufacturers (Torani, Halus Power Systems, Scandic Springs, and 21st-Amendment Brewery). In 2023, four more videos were released, celebrating women in manufacturing (Aralez Bio, Porifera, Urban Bloc, and Torani).
