At 4:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, the Downtown Farmers’ Market will kick off its twelfth season with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 PM.  Located along Parrott Street between E. 14th Street and Washington Avenue, the Farmers’ Market will take place every Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM through October 9.

This year the market will reprise the Made in San Leandro theme on the third Wednesday of every month. On these days, local manufacturers will be at the Merchant at the Market table to tell visitors about their products.  In addition to Made in San Leandro, weekly themes at the market include Cooking Demonstrations, Green Market Days, and Wine Tastings.

There will be upwards of 30 vendors at the market. Local San Leandro vendors that will again have full booths include Hummus Heaven, offering hummus and pita in a variety of flavors, and Precious Puch Doggie Bakery. Hot food offerings will include Charlie’s Corn & Sons, India Gourmet, La Crepe a Moi, Roli Roti, and more!

Also on the vendor side, you can expect to be tempted by Gilroy-grown berries from Berrylicious Farm, ravioli from Home Maid Ravioli Co., local honey from Double R Bees, seasonal flowers from Sunrise Nursery, organic produce from Tu Universo Organic Farm, sumptuous baked goods from Feelgood Bakery, kettle chips from Ohana Bros. Island Style Chips and Popcorn, and seasonal smoothies from the Fruit Tree.

Local businesses and organizations that will be at the Merchant at the Market table through the season include DC Dance Center, Family Service Counseling CenterSan Leandro Community Food Pantry, and Broadmoor Preschool.

The market also offers kid-friendly activities, danceable music, and comfortable spots to eat and drink.  Year after year, the market has proven to be a successful and highly anticipated event, with an average of 2,500 visitors each week.  Check it out!
