San Leandro by Design is back!  The San Leandro Chamber of Commerce is kicking off a deep dive into the San Leandro manufacturing ecosystem through a series of events highlighting San Leandro’s manufacturing tradition and the precision machining and manufacturing ecosystem that exists in San Leandro today; and exploring how San Leandro can retain its high value manufacturers and support their growth through attraction of businesses in new manufacturing sectors. Potential high-growth industries that could take advantage of San Leandro’s fiber optic infrastructure and manufacturing ecosystem include electronics, clean and renewable energies and bio-science.

Focus on re-invigorating the City’s manufacturing ecosystem began in 2013 with development of the Next Generation Workplace District Plan. Focus on the pressing needs of our San Leandro manufacturing businesses kicked off in 2015 with establishment of The Founders Circle. The San Leandro by Design series will explore lessons learned since 2013, what investments are being made in our industrial area, and learn from the larger region what else can be done.

The kick-off event will take place on Tuesday, April 25th at San Leandro’s 21st Amendment Brewery. We will hear from Jeremy Goodwin, CEO and Founder of SyncFab, a graduate of San Leandro’s 2016 STIR program regarding the software platform SyncFab has launched to build capacity in our factories by connecting buyers and sellers.

Jeremy will then moderate a panel on Company Collaboration: How do we build a denser and richer network of companies in San Leandro with complementary skills?

Rod Stevens, principal of Business Street, who worked on the Next Generation Workplace District study, will moderate the second panel, People and Place.  Rod and his guest panel will focus on placemaking as a way to attract and keep a talent pipeline into the terrific manufacturing opportunities in San Leandro.

This event is open to the public and manufacturers and those who service them, as well as entrepreneurs and small businesses in San Leandro and beyond are encouraged to attend. Register by end of day April 18 to get the discount registration rate of $30.  To register, please click here.
