SF Beer Week 2019 to Kick Off on February 1

For the fifth consecutive year, San Leandro is participating in San Francisco Beer Week, which kicks off on February 1. San Leandro beer enthusiasts can stop by Drake’s, 21st Amendment, or Cleophus Quealy to enjoy the classics, as well as rare brews, special releases, and fun events.  Check out the list below for details on local San Leandro events, or visit the SF Beer Week website for the complete Bay Area schedule.


A Very Murray Beer Week Celebration

February 2 / 2 PM / Cleophus Quealy / 448 Hester Street

It’s Groundhog Day at Cleophus Quealy!  The Harold Ramis and Bill Murray classic will play continuously all day while you sip our newest brew: Violet Delights – a sour that has spent months in gin barrels with lemons, cherries, and violets. Die-hard Bill Murray fans are invited to don their best look from their favorite Murray movie and join CQ for a Bill Murray costume contest, and snap some selfies in their Bill Murray photo booth. Judging will happen promptly at 5 PM.

The Oater Limits Can Release: Drake’s & Cellarmaker Collaboration

Drake’s and Cellarmaker Brewing are collaborating on a can and draft release of supernatural standards. Limited stock of The Oater Limits, Oatwine Ale with Guava, will be available at Drake’s Barrel House from open until we sell out. Come early for the best chance to claim your beer or pre-purchase online and take your time! Live music, delicious food and specialty SF Beer Week draft releases will be available, including Drake’s collabs with Humble Sea Brewing Co. and Urban Roots Brewing & Smokehouse.


Big Beer Brunch

In partnership with Drake’s, Cleophus, and Three Weavers Brewing Company, stop by for your brunch favorites and Big Beers to match!

Superbowl Watch Party

The 21st Amendment Brewery and Tap Room is hosting a Superbowl Watch Party with chips, wings, burgers, big screen, and, of course: beer!

Puppy Bowl Party

February 3 / 1 PM / Cleophus Quealy / 448 Hester Street

If the Superbowl is not your thing, join CQ and root for your favorite four-legged athletes in this adorable sporting showdown. Your own pup may not have the athletic prowess to make it to the big game, but they can still be a winner–enter the dog talent show to show off what they can do, with prizes for the most talented pooch. CQ will be pouring its special Beer Week brews for the occasion, including Violet Delight.


Throwback…Tuesday?

Don’t miss this low-key evening featuring some of CQ’s finest barrel-aged and sour beers! They will tap into some favorite past releases, plus special Beer Week brews, including Violet Delight.


Menagerie of Distinguished Drinkers Initiation Party

February 6 / 5 PM / Cleophus Quealy / 448 Hester Street

CQ is throwing this extra esoteric soiree in honor of its loyal membership club to welcome new members and celebrate the OG crew. This initiation is for members only, but pro-tip: signing up costs nothing, so come on by and join the ranks of the Distinguished Drinkers.


Drake’s Advanced Oak Cellar Release

February 7 / 5 PM / Drake’s Brewing Co. / 1933 Davis Street

Flock to Drake’s Barrel House to claim a piece of Drake’s funky, sour, and barrel-aged collection! Drake’s is diving deep into its dusty cellar to pull out the rarest, most coveted creations they have ever brewed.

Tropical Thursday

February 7 / 4 PM / Cleophus Quealy / 448 Hester Street

It’s tiki time at Cleophus Quealy, complete with tiki bar-esque beertails, classic surf tunes by DJ Danny Santos, and a special Happy Hour menu. Hawaiian shirts and tropical attire highly encouraged, especially for dogs. We’re also unveiling a super limited run of custom tiki mugs designed by Danny Santos and Bill Kaplan of Faery Wood Studios–these are bound to sell out fast, so stop by early and snag yours quickly!


Vinyl Night & 510 Malt Liquor Can Release

February 8 / 6 PM / Drake’s Brewing Co. / 1933 Davis Street

Join Drake’s for the debut of 510 Malt Liquor in 16 oz. cans, the 5th annual SF Beer Week collaboration release with Beachwood Brewing. DJ Boot Bat will be spinning punk rock vinyl all night.


Saturday Social with Bay Area Girls Rock Camp

For this super special Beer Week Saturday Social, CQ is partnering with Bay Area Girls Rock Camp. Stop by from 12-4pm on Saturday, February 9th and help raise funds for Bay Area Girls Rock Camp and their ongoing efforts to empower young people through music.


Beer Week Hangover

Wind down the week’s festivities with a low-key brunch! CQ will have breakfasty beertails (plus ginger ale and coconut water if you need a little extra help), plus their full lineup of special Beer Week releases, including Violet Delight.

Drake’s Bend & Brews (and Brunch!)

February 10 / 10 AM / Drake’s Brewing Co. / 1933 Davis Street / $15 admission

Get in touch with your flexible side with a brewery yoga class! Drake’s Bends & Brews is an all-levels vinyasa flow taught by Drake’s own Natalie Somers. Natalie has been a certified yoga instructor since 2013, filling her classes with opportunities to be curious about yourself and find harmony within.

Drake’s Grillin’ & Chillin’: a Family Affair

Celebrate the end of the SF Beer Week insanity with the entire Drake’s family. Sister breweries Triple Rock Brewing and Jupiter will be in the house, their beer flowing from the taps. Bring your family to toss some corn hole, play board games or just chill in the sun in the Adirondack chairs.
