Frank’s Sports Bar & Grill Now Open
Long-time San Leandro residents may have fond memories of Frank’s Saloon Sports Bar & Mexican Restaurant at 2014 Marina Boulevard. This neighborhood staple opened in 1990 and served the community for over two decades years before the owners decided to re-imagine their restaurant concept.
Over the past several months, the owners have been working hard to rehabilitate the space, and at last Thursday, September 6, 2019, the reconceptualized Frank’s Sports Bar & Grill celebrated its grand opening. The ribbon-cutting event was co-hosted by the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce .
The exterior and interior have both received a face lift with help from the City’s Business Incentive Program. The menu has been revamped to a balanced mix of American-Portuguese game day food items, from wings, Brussels sprouts, and calamari, to salads, sandwiches, and burgers including the plant-based Beyond Burger. There is also a kids’ menu tempting wee sports fans with either grilled cheese or chicken nuggets. On the weekend, a brunch menu is offered between 11AM and 3PM.
Frank’s is open from 11AM until 2AM, so diners may stop by for lunch, brunch, dinner, or a late-night meal. The full bar serves everything from draft and bottled beers and wine to specialty cocktails. There is plenty of parking on the premises and ample seating, both at the bar and in the dining area. And if darts are your thing, Frank’s also has a dart room. The space is decorated with wall murals, one of which depicts a steam engine from 1869 – a nod to the first steam engine to run in San Leandro.
So whether you were a regular at Frank’s Saloon, or you have yet to pay a visit, stop by Frank’s Sports Bar & Grill and enjoy some good food and drink while immersed in the game of your choice!
