Celebrate SF Beer Week with Local San Leandro Breweries

In 2022, SF Beer Week is returning with a series of in-person activities and once again, San Leandro is well-represented! Kick off SF Beer Week 2022 with events at San Leandro’s own 21st Amendment Brewery and Drake’s Barrel House.

In 2022, SF Beer Week boasts five official kick-off parties throughout the Bay Area. This is an effort to limit crowd size and maintain a safe environment (as the traditional opening gala would host a large number of people) as well as showcase and celebrate local members and beer communities.

East Bay Kick-Off Party

The East Bay kick-off party will take place at 21st Amendment Brewery at 2010 Williams Street on February 11. 21A’s co-founder and brewmaster Shaun O’Sullivan was also pivotal in the establishment of SF Beer Week back in 2009, so it is only fitting that the brewery host this event. Tickets range from $65 to $90. Please note that there will be no tickets sold at the door.

While 21st Amendment normally welcomes families, this event is 21+ only and serves as a fundraiser for the Bay Area Brewers Guild. Attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination (CDC vaccination card or CA digital vaccine card) against COVID-19 (both doses for Moderna or Pfizer, single dose for Johnson & Johnson).

This kick-off event will feature a plethora of East Bay brewers, including San Leandro’s other acclaimed brewery Drake’s Brewing Company. Other brewers include:

Food will be available for purchase on site from the 21st Amendment Food Truck, Square Pizza, and Roadside Rotisserie. Live music by the Charles Wheal Band will be provided from 6PM until 9PM.

Additional Events

In addition to the kick-off events, there are dozens of smaller events scattered throughout the Bay Area, the schedule for which can be perused on the SF Beer Week website.

Here in San Leandro, Drake’s Barrel House will be hosting the popular Drake’s Grillin’ & Chillin’ – a Family Affair at noon on Sunday, February 20. This is a pay-as-you-go event that celebrates the completion of SF Beer Week. Drake’s is sharing taps with Triple Rock Brewing and Jupiter and “Papa” Roy Kirkorian (co-owner of Drake’s) will be serving up his famous Santa Maria tri-tip for sale.

And speaking of beer, have you seen the progress at the upcoming Fieldwork Brewery location in San Leandro?! Developer Retail West is bringing a multi-restaurant project at 1495 E. 14th Street with Dave’s Hot Chicken – a Nashville-style spicy fried chicken – and Fieldwork Brewing Company for a beer garden.
