As a loyal customer of Restaurant Week in both San Francisco and Oakland, since they opened it for the first time, I was thrilled to learn that San Leandro was hosting its inaugural Restaurant Week. Being a long-time resident of San Leandro, I eagerly anticipated this exciting event. However, it’s disheartening to discover that San Leandro Restaurant Week is experiencing some initial challenges in its first year.

When I reached out to a few of the participating restaurants, I was disappointed to find that only a couple of them had prepared a special menu for the occasion. In fact, one restaurant I contacted seemed unaware of the requirement and had not created a unique menu. I took the opportunity to explain the purpose and significance of Restaurant Week, hoping to bring clarity to the situation.

One of the reasons I was particularly enthusiastic about San Leandro Restaurant Week was the opportunity to explore and discover new restaurants in my own community. I was eager to try out these participating establishments that I didn’t even know existed. Unfortunately, due to the lack of readiness for this event, I have had to turn to San Francisco to satisfy my dining desires during this special week.

It is my hope that the organizers of San Leandro Restaurant Week will take this feedback constructively and make improvements for future events. Launching a new event can be challenging, and miscommunications can occur. By addressing these issues, San Leandro can create a more seamless and successful Restaurant Week experience in the years to come.

In the meantime, while I may have missed out on the opportunity to explore local restaurants in San Leandro, I am grateful for the vibrant dining scene in San Francisco. I will continue to support and patronize the restaurants there, savoring the diverse flavors and culinary delights the city has to offer.

As a dedicated resident and passionate food enthusiast, I remain hopeful that San Leandro’s Restaurant Week will grow and evolve into an exceptional event, showcasing the unique dining experiences within our community.

I was excited to read in Sunday’s East Bay Times about San Leandro Restaurant Week and just went in a goose chase trying to find details for participating restaurants. Only found lists/logos and a competition to visit locations. Being familiar with this concept in other cities this left me confused and disappointed to say the least. San Leandro has a growing diversity of restaurants and hope this event will be a success in the future
