Just Opened: Ellie’s Baked Eggs

What came first – the chicken, or the egg? Who knows for sure, but at Ellie’s Baked Eggs, the egg rules, for certain! This breakfast and lunch spot takes the place of Naan ‘N Pasta at 1865 Orchard Avenue, on the corner of Orchard and Williams Street.

Ellie’s is open from 6:30 AM until 2:30 PM every day of the week except Wednesdays, Though they have just opened, they have already earned attention from the Mercury News, as well as several positive Yelp reviews.

Ellie’s menu is small, but that is because the items that are on the menu are exceptional. There are five delectable egg bakes, three each of open-faced sandwiches, salads, and soups, plus a variety of side dishes and beverages. For the brunch crew there is also a selection of coffee cocktails, classic brunch libations, wine, and beer. For those who prefer a sweeter breakfast, there is also French Toast and a sweet treat of the day.

But it’s the namesake baked egg that steals the show. Eggs are scrambled and perfectly baked atop a layer of cheese in ceramic ramekins with a variety of toppings from basil and tomato, and soy-marinated chicken and caramelized onions, to skirt steak and chimichurri sauce.
