In 2010, Kaiser Permanente began work on what will be the largest development project in San Leandro’s history. Kaiser had been working with the City of San Leandro for several years to develop a 63-acre parcel of property, formerly the site of an Albertson’s distribution center, located off Marina Boulevard just west of Interstate 880.  Phase 1 of the Medical Center includes an approximately 436,000 square foot new hospital containing up to 264 licensed beds, and approximately 275,000 square foot Hospital Support Building immediately connected to the hospital.

Most importantly, the Kaiser Medical Center will bring approximately 2,800 employees and hundreds of daily visitors to San Leandro. This promises to be an economic engine which, when combined with Lit San Leandro and a strengthening economy, will help to transform San Leandro’s industrial area.

More information on the Kaiser Permanente San Leandro Medical Center is available at the City of San Leandro website.
