San Leandro Mounts Aggressive Campaign to Attract Craft Breweries
It’s no surprise that the craft beer industry is taking hold in San Leandro. We have a long history as a great place for food and beverage production and the growing craft beer industry fits perfectly. Drake’s Brewing recently celebrated 25 years in San Leandro. 21st Amendment Brewery is opening one of the largest breweries in Northern California in early 2015. San Leandro also boasts two major brewing suppliers, restaurants with huge tap lists, and an annual Sausage & Suds festival that draws over 10,000 people.
San Leandro’s growing community of makers and high-tech businesses demand artisanal foods and beverages. Craft breweries are an important economic development driver as they cluster together, increase tourism and play a key role in revitalizing our 21st century industrial workplace district.
To continue this momentum, the City is creating an aggressive campaign to attract craft breweries including a new logo, advertising in national brewery association magazines and meeting with California brewery owners at this year’s California Craft Brewers Conference. Finally, the City is offering a Craft Brewery Incentive Program. The program offers up to $25,000 to assist with tenant improvements, fees, exterior façade or infrastructure improvements.

It would be great if we can have a local craft beer tasting/tour event using LINK Shuttle to transport people from one brewery to another.
Looking forward to a brew!
