Torani Winner at 2024 East Bay Innovation Awards
On Thursday, March 28, 2024, the East Bay Economic Development Alliance hosted the 11th annual East Bay Innovation Awards – the premier program of its kind that celebrates and honors the extraordinary companies and organizations that contribute to the East Bay’s legacy of innovation.
This year, the program received 77 applications across 10 competitive award categories in Alameda and Costa Counties. Groups of industry experts narrowed the nominations down to 20 finalists, which were announced in December 2023.
San Leandro has consistently been well-represented at the East Bay Innovation Awards, and this year two San Leandro businesses were announced as finalists:
Emmy Award-winning journalist, NBC Bay Area news anchor and reporter, Gia Vang served as event host at the event, where Torani was announced the winner in the Food category.
Torani moved its headquarters and manufacturing facility to San Leandro in 2020 and is one of San Leandro’s largest employers. Among the Torani honorees receiving the award were CEO Melanie Dulbecco, Chairperson of the Board Lisa Lucheta, COO, Doug Reifsteck, VP of Purpose Stacy Cooper-Dent, Director of Manufacturing Greg Phillips, and Processing Team Lead Francisco Santos. They were joined by Mayor Juan González III and Councilmembers Xouhoa Bowen (District 5) and Pete Ballew (District 6) in celebrating the win.
Throughout its history, San Leandro has been a hot spot for makers and innovators. Though there have been countless advances in technology and continuous changes to the creative framework, San Leandro remains highly competitive in California, the U.S., and the World. We are proud of Torani for winning, and of Cuberg for placing as a finalist, and look forward to more San Leandro business recognized as top-notch innovators in the future!
