Tio’s Mediterranean Grill has not been open long, but it has already drummed up a great deal of positive response in the community, with Yelp reviews raving about its excellent cuisine and service.

Tio’s opened at 794 E. 14th Street in October, 2022, replacing a series of Chinese restaurants that have occupied the space over the course of many years. The restaurant’s menu mixes dishes from various Mediterranean locales, including Greece, Turkey, Iraq, and Jordan, thereby creating a unique offering of flavorful choices

The menu offers salads and wraps on the lighter side as well as both sauteed and grilled entrees. The salad menu consists of Greek, house, and falafel salads, with a variety of add-ons for an additional charge. Wraps come in chicken or beef shawarma, kofta kebab, or falafel.

Side orders include salad, tabouli, white or yellow rice, fries, and feta cheese. Entrees are broken up between sauteed and grilled menus, the sauteed dishes being varieties of tepsi, a casserole made with eggplant, tomato, onion, bell pepper, and spices, then accompanied with your choice of either kufta, prawn, salmon, falafel, beriani, or mansaf. The grilled menu includes four types of kebab, prawns, salmon, rack of lamb, and multiple combos.

All meats are halal, but the restaurant is also vegetarian-friendly, and can also accommodate gluten-free diners. Tio’s is a unique new addition to the San Leandro culinary family that is gaining popularity by the day.
